GET TARGET HEART RATE : Help me calculate?

I am often asked about advice for 'newbies', those newly diagnosed with cancer. Hearing the words, 'its cancer' is shocking. Many feel paralyzed and don't know what to do, besides cry. My first piece of advice is to take a deep breath. Next, take another...the trick is to keep breathing. Then, after the usual advice about finding a good doctor and educating yourself about your disease, I talk about exercise.

Cancer survivors face many challenges. From my own experience with breast cancer, I believe in the importance of exercise before, during, and after cancer treatments. I understand both the difficulties and the tremendous benefits of exercise during all phases of cancer treatment, and beyond. Whatever your current fitness level, I can help you get in better shape to prepare for surgery, feel better and stay strong throughout chemotherapy and radiation, regain your strength after treatment is finished, or get ready for your first big post-cancer adventure.

I believe that none of us should be limited by our disease, our treatment, or our survival.
