I am fairly new to competitive running and lately I have been having problems with injuries. I started to notice a discomfort returning to my hip bone that running causes. Are there any stretches that I could do to prevent it from getting worse or being there at all? Also, I sprained my ankle yesterday and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help heal it quicker or at least something that would allow me to run on it sooner without damaging it more.

Depending on your course of treatment, there can be numerous changes to your body. Joint pain, bone pain, muscle pain, fatigue, sensitivity to cold, and neuropathy are the symptoms that I experienced. Its very important to stay strong and flexible during and after your treatment, especially if you wish to engage in strenuous physical activities. (I am a practicing Martial Artist) What I recommend to EVERY Cancer patient is a very simple and gentle set of Chi Kung exercises called "The 8 Pieces of Brocade" By Dr. Yang Jwing Ming. It is available on DVD at Amazon.com. The form is a series of very gentle movement and breathing exercises that promote flexibility, core strength, and a deep sense of well being. Running can be very harsh on joints and organ (especially women) It is essential to your overall health to be as strong and flexible as possible to avoid injury.
